General Information
Irene obtained her BSc in biotechnology at the University of Siena and her MSc in cellular and molecular biotechnology at the University of Trento (Italy). After, Irene moved to Luxembourg to work at the Luxembourg Institute of Health to study mechanisms of autophagy in cancer under Professor Janji Bassam.
Within the THERADNET network, Irene is working at the Institut für Zellbiologie (Tumorforschung), which is located at the Universitätsklinikum Essen. Her project is focused on the pathologic role of macrophages in normal and tumor tissues in response to radiotherapy and aims to further elucidate opportunities for therapeutic intervention. Furthermore, she is responsible for video editing of the THERADNET website and is a current THERADNET ESR representative.
